PROGRAMS GRU SUPPORTS

American Cancer Society

“Thank you to Gainesville Regional Utilities for helping the American Cancer Society attack from every angle. Your support and leadership of the Relay For Life of East Gainesville contribute to the Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Because of your partnership we are able to offer free rides to treatment, a live 24/7 helpline, and free lodging near hospitals for people dealing with every type of cancer. Because of you, we’ve invested more than $4.6 billion in cancer research since 1946, all to find more – and better – treatments, uncover factors that may cause cancer, and improve cancer patients’ quality of life. Because of you, we’ve built communities through Relay for Life which is in more than 4,500 communities throughout 27 countries. We could not do any of it without you!”

Gainesville Police Department Crime Prevention Unit

“GRU’s impact has been phenomenal. Consistency breeds trust and we trust GRU. A lot of love, respect and trust allows a partnership like ours to help a lot of well-deserving children. Thank you GRU for helping us to impact lives!”

Jacobs

“Jacobs Engineering has partnered with GRU to educate hundreds of students on STEM careers and what it takes to design and build a project. We use hands-on activities, tours of GRU facilities and team building projects to encourage and inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists. Through our common vision and partnership, together we are making a greater impact on our community.”

PACE Center for Girls

“PACE Alachua is extremely grateful for our partnership with Gainesville Regional Utilities. Their contributions through events such as the Mary Wise Scramble for Pace have aided towards program enrichment as well as expansion. Moreover, when GRU hosted the career day showcasing some of their female employees, it revealed to our girls that there are a variety of male-dominated career fields that women can excel in. We also continue to have amazing role models at the senior leadership level from GRU who serve on our board of directors and contribute to the future success of our organization! On behalf of the at-promise girls that we serve here in Alachua, we thank GRU for your active support in advancing our mission by giving girls in crisis a voice and a second chance at a brighter future!”

Natalya Bannister
Executive Director, PACE Center for Girls, Alachua

Habitat for Humanity

“GRU has been a long-standing partner with our Neighborhood Revitalization (NR) program. They hosted early NR meetings and were leaders in the formation of our NR Collaborators group. Their new services department has assisted us with researching ways to reduce our hook-up fees. Their account services department has assisted us with researching family utility bills.”

Executive Director, Alachua Habitat for Humanity
